Contra Costa County’s Proposed Sales Tax Meaure(Measure B)

Measure B is a temporary 5-year, 0.625% countywide sales tax, projected to raise $150 millions dollars annually. The funds are intended to partially offset the County's anticipated fiscal deficits due to federal and state funding cuts. This measure will be on the June 2nd primary ballot.

“To help Contra Costa County address cuts in federal funding, support local services such as health care, supplemental food assistance, and other general county services; shall Contra Costa County adopt a five-eighths of one cent (0.625%) temporary general sales tax for 5 years, providing an estimated $150,000,000 annually, with required annual audits”

This measure is intended to help reinforce our social safety net and Health care services due to the federal cuts in funding since H.R.1.

Community Forum

The Budget Justice Coalition, along with Ensuring Opportunity, the Multi-Faith ACTION Coalition, and Root and Bloom, hosted a community forum on Measure B on May 4th, 2026. Community members had the opportunity to engage with key leaders such as:

Regional Transportation Measure

The largest operators in the Bay Area anticipate a tremendous deficit beginning next year.

The Connect the Bay measure aims to generate funds by requesting community members to contribute a half-cent sales tax in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties.This tax is set to last for 14 years and is projected to raise approximately $1 billion annually.
